Summer is now in full swing and July has been a busy month. I made this "At the Shore" wall quilt last winter and it is being featured in the September issue of The Quilter Magazine. If you want to hold onto a bit of summer and carry it with you through the cool winter months, this shore scene as seen through the window might just do the trick. It was really quick and easy to make.The October issue of McCall's Quilting Magazine features an easy reversible vest in their September issue. In anticipation of my new book, Easy Reversible Vests -Revised Edition being released in September, this article will give you the opportunity to whip up one of these fun vests for yourself and give this quick and easy approach to making a one-of-a-kind vest a whirl.
The September issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine features a brand new Mariner's Compass Star block that I designed specifically for their birthday. The article also shows lots of creative options when it comes to making Mariner's Compass Stars. Some of the quilts made by our Yahoo group members were also featured in this article.

The really big news is that I have begun to blog!! I had hesitated for some time about starting a blog, however I decided there was real value in blogging because I could share immediate news and stories and information that would be of interest.
I had the urge to make myself another reversible vest. With camera handy, I was able to document the steps for choosing fabrics and audtioning them to make the two totally different vests and share the steps in the blog.
I am already thinking about the next fun thing to share on my new blog. Stop by and visit often.

The group continues to be active. The July Block of the Month inspired 73 photos of wonderful interpretations of the block. When Merilyn from NSW, Australia posted her block, I simply couldn't resist seeing what it would look like in a quilt. I just uploaded the August Block. Members are already considering how they will set all their blocks in a quilt.
Members do love challenges, so we just began a new challenge called, Triple Treat Challenge. I provided three designs, the members have three months to complete a top using just these designs and setting pieces and there will be three prizes.

Olfa Rotary Point Cutter--Announcing Limited Supply
I've learned that Olfa has discontinued making their Rotary Point Cutter, the wonderful tool I use to take out stitches. I have purchased the entire stock of cutters from my supplier and all their replacement blades. I have many more blades than cutters, but they will be available in the store until the supply is exhausted.
Easy Reversible Vest-Revised Edition
I expect to put my new book up in the store about mid September. I am really excited about the release of this new book. For one thing, I can wear my vests again without having to tell people that the book is not available. Also, the new block designs, sizes and settings offer so many more and updated creative options.
Book of the MonthFor the first time I am going to declare my book, Mariner`s Compass Stars as a book of the month. The inspiration for this book began when I was developing workshops for q quilting cruise. The block and quilt designs are dramatic, yet so quick and easy to make. Each of the blocks in this book is named for a country or area of the world. Do take advantage of the reduced price this month to add this one to your library.
On the Road
I just returned from teaching classes prior to the outdoor Quilt Show in Eureka, Montana. I'll be leaving next week to teach on the New England Cruise and will be in Clarion, PA later this month. I hope to meet some of you along the way.
